PDX 50-50
PDX 50-50 is a fall road and mixed-surface running event in Portland, Oregon, offering two route choices. Distances listed for the event are:
- 50K - course measured at about 31.5 to 32 miles.
- 53 Miler - labeled 50M, actual distance about 53 miles.
The start and finish are at Brooklyn Park in Southeast Portland on the uphill / 10th Avenue side. There is a convenience store, a coffee shop, and a bar across the street. GPX route files are provided for each distance.
The route heads north from Brooklyn Park, follows the Eastbank Esplanade to the Steel Bridge, then travels through North Portland to Willamette Boulevard and past the University of Portland to the St Johns Bridge. After crossing St Johns runners climb into Forest Park on the Ridge Trail for about one mile of steeper, somewhat technical trail. The course then follows Leif Eriksen road to Thurman Drive, drops through NW Portland with opportunities for water or bathroom stops at Wallace Park or local stores, and returns to the Willamette.
At about mile 29 at the Sellwood Bridge participants choose the 50K return route or the longer 53 mile route. The longer route continues through River View Cemetery, Tryon Creek Park, Terwilliger Trail, Lake Oswego and Oregon City, then follows the Trolley Trail back toward Sellwood and Brooklyn Park.
This event is unsupported with no aid stations and no course markings. The Forest Park stretch, approximately mile 11 to mile 21, is the longest section without places to buy or refill supplies. Registration closes Fri, Sep 11 at 11:59PM PT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
