Portland Trail Series
The Portland Trail Series is a low-key evening trail race series held in Forest Park in Portland. The organizer runs three separate five-race Series : Spring, Summer, and Fall : on Wednesday evenings from April to October. Each race uses a different course with distances that vary from 4 to 7 miles. Runners who complete at least four races in a Series are included in the overall Series standings.
Maps for each route are posted the Monday before a race on the event site and on Facebook. One route may be designated the Mystery Route; the distance is announced in advance but the specific trails are not disclosed. Courses are marked on race day.
The Series benefits the Forest Park Conservancy. A post-Series gathering is held after the final race at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall, where Series and age group awards are presented and a raffle is held.
Registration options include season registration for all five Summer races and single race drop-in registration for individual events. There are rules about transfers and refunds; cancellations more than 30 days before a race receive a 50% credit toward a future event, while cancellations 30 days or fewer before a race receive no credit. A Trail Mix Fund offers financial assistance for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ runners.
Parking is free on city streets. These events are running races and not walking events. Coaching and training services are available from Wy'east Wolfpack. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
