OUTLAST PORTLAND : event description

OUTLAST is a 6 hour trail endurance challenge held in North Plains, Oregon. Participants run a 5K loop every hour on the hour; each lap must be finished within the hour to continue to the next. If a runner completes a lap early, they may rest until the next round. Missing a lap removes the runner from the event.

Courses use natural trail terrain with dirt, rocks, roots and elevation; some sections may include pavement or gravel. Each 5K is timed individually and a runner who completes all six laps has their combined time used for local results and national leaderboard placement. Runners who complete four or five laps receive a patch, and those who complete all six receive a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee.

There will be a basecamp or loop start area with water, basic hydration and snacks. This is a cupless event, so runners must bring their own bottle or hydration system. Walking is allowed if a runner finishes each 5K within the hour.

Top male and female runners with the fastest combined 5K times at the event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard and the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6 hour events is crowned National Champion with a cash prize of $1,000. Championship prize money is awarded to top finishers at the season finale. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
