OUTLAST Portland
OUTLAST Portland is a 6-hour trail endurance challenge held in North Plains, Oregon (21215 NW Brunswick Canyon Rd). The event format requires participants to complete a 5K loop every hour, on the hour; each lap must be finished within the hour to remain in the event. Runners who complete all six laps receive a premium OUTLAST medal and a place on the national leaderboard.
Courses are trail-based with natural terrain, elevation, and variable conditions; some sections can include pavement or gravel. The event provides water, basic hydration, and snacks at the basecamp or loop start. This is a cupless event, so participants are expected to carry their own bottle or hydration system.
Awards and recognition are offered by lap totals and overall time. Participants who complete four laps earn a "Grit Earned" patch, five laps earn a "Survivor" patch, and six laps earn the OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. The top male and top female at each event are determined by the fastest combined 5K times and earn the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked nationally; the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events earns a $1,000 national prize.
The event also advances city champions to an Outlast Championship and invites the top 100 national times to compete at the tour finale. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
