OUTLAST Portland

OUTLAST is a six hour trail endurance challenge in which runners complete a 5K loop every hour for six rounds. Each lap must be finished within the hour for a runner to continue in the event. Runners who complete all six rounds OUTLAST.

Courses are trail based and include natural terrain, elevation changes, and unpredictable conditions; some sections may include pavement or gravel. There is a recovery period between laps for rest and refueling. Each 5K is timed individually, and a runner’s combined time across all six rounds is used for local results and national ranking.

Aid is available at the basecamp or loop start with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event, so participants are expected to use their own bottle or hydration system. Trail shoes, layered clothing as weather dictates, and on-course fuel are recommended.

Recognition and prizes are awarded at multiple levels. Runners who complete four laps receive a “Grit Earned” patch; five laps earn a “Survivor” patch; completing all six awards a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. Top male and female finishers at each event are recognized locally, finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard, and the fastest across all OUTLAST six hour events is crowned National Champion with a cash prize. City champions can qualify for the Outlast Championship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
