Portland Trail Series
The Portland Trail Series is a low-key series of evening trail running races held in Forest Park, Portland. The program comprises three five-race Series—Spring, Summer, and Fall—running from April through October on Wednesday evenings. Each race uses a different, hilly course and covers about 4 to 7 miles.
Races are scheduled every other week. Runners who compete in at least four races in a Series are included in the overall Series standings; top finishers receive prizes from event sponsors. One route each Series may be designated a Mystery Route: its distance is announced in advance but the specific trails are not revealed. Course markings are provided on race day and route maps are typically posted the Monday before a race.
The Series benefits the Forest Park Conservancy. A post-Series gathering at Lucky Lab Beer Hall follows the final race where Series and age-group awards are presented and a raffle is held. Registration options include full-Series entry with tiered pricing and single-race drop-in registration at races to fill no-show spots. The event policy states there are no transfers or refunds; cancellations more than 30 days before a race receive a 50% credit toward a future event, while cancellations within 30 days receive no credit.
Parking is free on nearby city streets. The organizers acknowledge these events occur on the traditional homelands of the Cowlitz, Clackamas, Atfalai, and Kalapuya Tribes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
