Portland Trail Series
The Portland Trail Series is a low-key series of evening trail running races held in Forest Park in Portland. The program consists of three seasonal five-race Series - Spring, Summer, and Fall - staged on Wednesdays from April through October, with races every other week. Each race uses a different course that is generally hilly and ranges from 4–7 miles.
Runners who compete in at least four races in a given Series are included in the overall Series standings. Series competitors may receive prizes provided by event sponsors. The Series benefits the Forest Park Conservancy. A post-series gathering is held after the final race at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall where organizers present Series and age-group awards, run a raffle, and offer beer and pizza.
Organizers post maps for each route the Monday before each race and also publish routes on Facebook. One route may be designated as a Mystery Route: the distance is announced in advance but the specific trails are not revealed; the course is marked on race day. These events are running races and not walking events.
Registration options include a Summer Series package with tiered pricing for all five races and single-race drop-in registration for a cash fee at each race until capacity is reached. There are no transfers or refunds; cancellations more than 30 days before a race receive a 50% credit toward a future race, while cancellations 30 days or less from race day receive no credit. A Trail Mix Fund can provide entry assistance for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ runners. Street parking in the area is free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
