Event overview

The Oxbow Trail Runs takes place at Oxbow Regional Park, Metro, on the Sandy River near Gresham, about 30 minutes from downtown Portland. The 2026 event date is April 26, 2026. Race entries are available through UltraSignup beginning January 1, 2026; the field is limited to 150 total runners. USA Track and Field sanctions the race. Parking at the park carries a fee of $5 per car; buses pay $7. Cell service in the park is minimal. Pets, alcohol, smoking, and vaping are not allowed.

The Alder Picnic Area is reserved for participants and guests. ETA catering will provide post-race food, and ETA will serve complimentary sandwiches for participants. Finishers receive an Oxbow cup for root beer floats. No refunds; all sales are final.

All races start and finish at the Alder Picnic Area next to the Sandy River. The 5k runs through the Ancient Forest, climbs on a gravel road, then follows river trails past the oxbow bend and a boat ramp. The 10k follows the 5k for the first mile, climbs to Alder Ridge, circles Elk Meadow, includes an out-and-back on an equestrian trail and a 300 ft climb in 0.5 mile, then returns to the river trails. The Half Marathon consists of two 10k loops plus an extra mile on river and Ancient Forest trails and lists total elevation gain of 1560 ft.

This is a cupless race. Water will be available to fill bottles before and after the races. The Half and 10k have an aid station at the two-mile turnaround; the Half has an additional aid station near mile nine. Check-in, parking areas, and park restrooms are located near the picnic area.
