Event Overview
The Oxbow Trail Runs take place in the scenic Oxbow Regional Park, a Metro-managed area located outside Gresham on the Sandy River. Situated approximately 30 minutes from downtown Portland, this location features the park's Ancient Forest, elk meadows, and riverfront trails.
Distances and Course Routes
The event offers three distinct trail distances, all starting and finishing at the Alder Picnic Area:
- 5k: A reasonably flat course that winds through the Ancient Forest and along the Sandy River, offering views of the river's oxbow bend and surrounding foothills.
- 10k: This route follows the initial mile of the 5k before climbing to Alder Ridge. It circles Elk Meadow, featuring views of Mt. Hood on clear days. The course includes a 300-foot climb on an equestrian trail followed by a descent over stairs and roots.
- Half Marathon: Consists of two 10k loops with an additional one-mile section through the Ancient Forest and river trails. The total elevation gain for this distance is 1560 feet.
