Event overview
The Ferris Fifty is a trail endurance event in Minden, Nevada, held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and finishing at TJ’s Corral by the Carson Valley Inn. The event offers the following distances:
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 15K
The course uses single-track trails, OHV trails, and small sections of pavement that traverse the foothills of eastern Carson Valley. The route passes near Job's Peak and offers views of the Carson Valley.
Course, support, and logistics
Surfaces include dirt, gravel, sand, and pavement. The course covers active OHV and mountain bike trails and will be patrolled during the event. Wildlife present in the area includes wild horses, coyotes, and other high desert animals. Typical late fall weather is described as daytime highs in the 50s to 60s Fahrenheit and nighttime temperatures in the high 30s, with possible rain or snow.
Aid stations:
- 7 aid stations on the 50M at Miles 7, 13, 19, 26, 32.5, 39, and 44.
- 4 aid stations on the 50K at Miles 7, 13, 21, and 26.
- 3 aid stations on the 15K at Miles 3, 5, and 7.
Bag drops are available for 50M and 50K and are collected at packet pick up. Crews are allowed at Mile 13 and Mile 39 with one vehicle per runner. Trekking poles are allowed. Pacers are generally not allowed; exceptions require contact with race staff. Finish area features music, food trucks, drinks, and vendor booths.
