Ferris 50 Endurance Run

The Ferris 50 Endurance Run is an off-road running event held in the eastern foothills of the Carson Valley, at the base of the Carson Range of the Sierra Nevada. The event honors the legacy of George Washington Gale Ferris, the inventor of the Ferris Wheel and a former resident of the area. Participants navigate a course composed of single-track trails, OHV trails, and a minimal amount of concrete surfaces. The route offers views of Job's Peak and the surrounding valley landscape.

The event features three distinct distances to accommodate different experience levels:

  • 50 Mile
  • 50k
  • 15k

The 50 Mile race starts at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville, while the finish line for all distances is located at TJ's Corral at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. A free shuttle service is provided to transport runners from the finish area to the starting point.

Participants in the 50 Mile category receive a long-sleeve finisher shirt and a finisher buckle. Those completing the 50k and 15k distances receive a long-sleeve finisher shirt and a finisher medal. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 50 Mile division. A festival takes place at the finish line featuring an awards ceremony, with food and beverages available for purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
