Exterminator

The Exterminator is a fell race organised by Totley AC near Sheffield, scheduled for 6 September 2026. The course covers approximately 27 km (17 miles) with about 1,066 m of total climb and is classified as an FRA category B Long race. The route is unmarked, partially marshalled and permits multiple route choices; competitors are expected to self-navigate.

The terrain includes road, track and footpath through woodland, fields, open moorland, villages and hamlets. There are multiple climbs and varied scenery. The race starts and finishes outside the Totley AC pavilion and includes ten checkpoints along the route; two of these checkpoints require an obvious clip or punch and all competitors must visit checkpoints in order.

The event is run under FRA rules. FRA Best Practice kit is mandatory and subject to inspection; required items include a waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, a physical map of the route, a compass, a whistle and emergency food. Use of GPX for navigation is prohibited and may lead to disqualification. There are two water stations on course but no single use cups are provided, so competitors should carry their own bottle or cup.

Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers and changing rooms. Parking near the start is very limited and public transport or arriving on foot or by bicycle are suggested where possible.
