Empower Backyard Ultra

Lebanon, United States • 8 Nov 2025

Event details

Empower Backyard Ultra takes place on November 8, 2025 at Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio. The event capacity is 150 runners across three event options: the traditional backyard format, a new 12 Hour backyard, and a 24 Hour backyard. Entry fees vary by event and registration period. Registration closes November 4, 2025. To guarantee event swag, registration should be completed by October 4, 2025.

Course, format and rules

The event uses a measured loop and a separate night out-and-back on a bike path. Distances and fixed-end options include:

  • 4.1667 miles loop per yard
  • 2.08 miles out and 2.08 miles back on the night bike path
  • 50 miles for the 12 Hour backyard (12 loops required)
  • 100 miles for the 24 Hour backyard (24 loops required)

Runners complete one loop each hour under backyard-ultra rules until only one runner remains. Runners must be standing in the starting corral when the bell rings to continue. Once the bell is rung, runners may not receive outside aid, visit their crew area, or leave the course except to use the bathroom. Crews are limited to three people per runner at a time. The day course is on fairly smooth wooded trails with small elevation changes, roots, and rocks; weather may affect conditions. The night course is on a paved bike path with no car traffic and passes residential areas; quiet behavior is requested. Alcohol is not permitted. Water, coffee, and non-caffeinated Tailwind will be provided. Swag is provided to all entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
