Air Force Marathon
The Air Force Marathon is an annual running weekend held each September at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, with key activities centered at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The event includes multiple race distances, virtual options, and multi-race challenge combinations across race weekend.
Past event figures show about 8,500 total athletes, participants from all 50 states, roughly 1,500 volunteers, and representation from 18 foreign countries. Support activities on race weekend include a Health & Fitness Expo, a gourmet pasta dinner at the museum, and a Finish Line Festival held at the museum grounds.
Registration policies allow transfers between events if spaces are available and set deadlines for online transfers and deferrals. Deferrals to the following year are permitted once per registration under specified deadlines. Person-to-person registration transfers are not allowed. All participants must pick up their race packet, which includes their bib, T-shirt, and goodie bag, at the Health & Fitness Expo; race day packet pickup options are limited and subject to availability. Registration fees are generally non-refundable; an exception is made for official military deployment under CED Orders.
Distances and race formats include:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Tailwind Trot 1K Kids' Run
- Virtual options for each distance
The Aim High Challenge pairs the 5K with another race distance to create combined-challenge entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
