Elphinstone Ascent

The Elphinstone Ascent is a vertical kilometre event organised by The Coaster team, drawing from European mountain culture. The race is scheduled for 1 August 2026 and entries open on 30 March at noon. Entry is limited to 60 runners.

The route finishes at the summit of Mount Elphinstone, a peak that overlooks Gibsons and reaches 1260 m above sea level. From the summit participants have views of the North Shore mountains, Tetrahedron Provincial Park and Howe Sound. A GPX route file is available and a Strava club is associated with the event. A meeting point is identified for participants.

The event includes a competitive element with a King and Queen of the Mountain title and also welcomes those who prefer to walk or run the climb alongside other outdoor enthusiasts. The organisers acknowledge that the event operates on the territories of the shíshálh Nation. Past results and image archives are maintained by the organisers.
