Dunstable Downs Half Marathon
The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail race held at the National Trust Countryside Centre, Dunstable Downs. The event on 21 June 2026 covers 21.2 km with about 450 m of total ascent. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association (#8210) and is listed as a UTMB World Series Index Race. Entry is limited to 250 runners and the minimum age is 17.
The route starts at the National Trust centre and initially runs to the Tree Cathedral and Bison Hill before returning past the centre. Runners then complete a full loop of Kensworth Quarry, passing an aid station close to the 10 km point, rejoin the Downs for an out and back to Five Knoles, and finish on the lower Downs trails by running the first 5 km section in reverse. Navigation uses orange arrow markers and ribbons, with marshals at key turns; runners are recommended to carry a digital route map on a watch or phone.
Two aid stations are positioned at 6.7 km and 13.7 km offering water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration gels and jelly babies. The event base provides parking (charged or free for National Trust members), permanent toilet facilities and a bag drop. Required items include a mobile phone, a digital route map and a reusable cup or bottle. Timing, live results and category awards are provided.
