Event Details
The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail running event. It takes place within the National Trust’s Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate in Bedfordshire. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 21st June.
Race Course
The 21.2 km route starts at the National Trust centre on the Downs. The course is described as hilly with a total elevation of over 450 meters. The terrain is uneven and steep in places, requiring trail running shoes. The route includes sections to the Tree Cathedral, Bison Hill, a loop of Kensworth Quarry, and an out-and-back to Five Knoles. The event is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons.
Facilities and Logistics
The event base is at the National Trust Countryside Center at Dunstable Downs. On-site facilities include car parking (with a charge, free for National Trust members), toilets, a bag drop, and a cafe. The closest train stations are Tring and Luton.
The race has a maximum of 300 runners and a time limit of 4 hours. Registration costs £35 (£33 for UKA-affiliated runners). The minimum age for participants is 17. Dogs are not permitted.
Runner Support
There is one on-route aid station, located at approximately 10.7 km. It provides water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration PF 30 Gels, and jelly babies. Medical support is available across the course. A finisher's medal and live timing results are provided.
