Dirt Half Challenge

The Dirt Half Challenge is an annual trail running event held in the market town of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. The race takes place in November, providing participants with a route through various autumn landscapes. The course follows a scenic loop that includes Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, the Grand Union Canal towpath, and the Greensand Ridge.

The terrain varies throughout the race, featuring a mixture of canal towpaths, off-road sections, wooded areas, and hills. Some portions of the course may also include boggy flood plains depending on the seasonal conditions. Runners pass through the Bedfordshire countryside, which offers views of the surrounding natural environment.

Available distances:

  • Half marathon (13.1 miles)
  • Metric half marathon

The event includes a metric half marathon distance to provide a shorter alternative to the traditional route. Both distances are professionally chip-timed. The course is supported by experienced marshals and first aid personnel stationed at key points. Refreshment stations are positioned along the route to support the runners, and an event village area is located at the site. Participants must follow established race rules and terms of entry.
