The event is a not-for-profit charity fundraiser for St. Teresa’s Hospice supported by Ruined Running Events Ltd. It takes place in Barnard Castle on Saturday 3 January 2026 with race registration at Scar Top, Barnard Castle. The advertised distance is 5 mile (ish). Entries open 20 October 2025 and close 2 January 2026. The minimum age is 14 on the event date. Entry fees are £10 for those aged 17 and under and £15 for adults. The entry list shows 23 participants so far.

Route, facilities and requirements

Entrants will be escorted along the River Tees to the race start. The route goes through Pecknell Woods, across the Lartington Estate, over Lartington Lane and into Deepdale Nature Reserve, finishing at Brightwoods within Deepdale. Registration and a bag-drop are at Scar Top; finishers will be shown how to return to race headquarters to collect drop-bags and receive a hot drink. Toilets are available at race headquarters. The route is mainly on dirt tracks and fields with a stream crossing, tree roots, boggy sections and technical downhill trails; trail or hybrid shoes are recommended. Organisers advise hat, gloves and a long sleeve top. No dogs are permitted on the route. To reduce waste, no disposable cups or bottled water will be handed out; participants should bring their own water bottle.
