The Deepdale Dash is a not-for-profit 5 mile (ish) trail race on Saturday 3 January 2026. The event supports St. Teresa’s Hospice and is organised by Ruined Running Events Ltd. Entry is open from 20 October 2025 and closes on 2 January 2026 at 12:00. The minimum age is 14. Entry fees are £10 for age 17 and under and £15 for adults. The event location is Methodist Church Hall, Barnard Castle.

Course and practical information

Race registration is at Scar Top, Barnard Castle. Entrants are escorted along the River Tees to the race start. The route passes through Pecknell Woods, the Lartington Estate, crosses Lartington Lane, and continues to Deepdale Nature Reserve. The finish is at Brightwoods in Deepdale. No dogs are permitted on the route because sheep may be present.

The majority of the course is on dirt tracks and across fields with a stream crossing, tree roots, boggy sections and technical downhill trails. Trail or hybrid shoes are recommended. Minimum kit suggestions include a hat, gloves and a long sleeve top. Toilets and a bag-drop are available at race headquarters. Water and snacks are provided at an on-route checkpoint and at the finish; participants are asked to bring their own reusable water bottle.
