Cockfield Chase is a fell race organised by Durham Fell Runners on Cockfield Fell, County Durham (venue: top end of Cockfield High Street, DL13 5HF). The route is two laps around the ancient monument of Cockfield Fell: the first lap is a 3.5 km group run to show the route, and the second lap is a 3.5 km race, making a total distance of 7 km (approximately 4.3 miles) with about 160 m of climb. No map is required for the event. The race is described as designed for beginners and recommends off road running shoes.

Entry, rules and facilities

Entry is open to people aged 14 or older. Pre-entry and entry on the day are available. Fees are £5 for FRA members and £6 for non-members. Teams are not allowed and there are no separate junior races. The event holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the Fell Runners Association. Parking is available at the carpark at the top of Cockfield main street; participants are asked not to park in the village and should follow marshal directions. Butterknowle Scouts will run a refreshment stall after the race. Runners are invited to bring a small prize to add to the prize pile and a reusable water bottle to leave at the start/finish.
