About the race
Dark Horse Trail Series takes place on August 14, 2027 at the Tryon Equestrian Center, 25 International Blvd, Mill Spring, North Carolina. The event uses a single 6.5 mile loop through the working equestrian center that mixes wide packed dirt paths, single-track trails, and open meadows, with about 600 feet of elevation gain per loop.

- 26.2 miles (marathon)
- 13.1 miles (half marathon)
- 10K
All distances run the same loop; runners pass the start/finish area and the single aid station each time around. The aid station at the start/finish provides water, Coke, and ginger ale, plus snacks including pickles, cookies, chips, Fig Newtons, and pretzels. The event is cup-less, so participants must bring their own hydration vessel. Parking is charged at $5 and is included with registration.
Timing and results use chip timing with live results published as runners finish. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal; overall top three male and female finishers receive trophies. Age group awards are given to the top three in 15 age categories. The race supports the Prisma Health Patient Assistance Fund and counts toward several Upstate Race Series season recognitions.
Logistics notes: dogs allowed on leash, headphones are permitted, gear check is available in an open grass field at the start/finish, porta-johns are onsite, cell service is limited.
