Jones Gap Trail Half Marathon
The Jones Gap Trail Half Marathon takes place in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, starting and finishing at the River Falls Lodge in Marietta, South Carolina. The course covers 13.1 miles (21.1 km) of terrain within Jones Gap State Park, a protected area spanning 13,000 acres of woodlands. This park connects to the larger Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, Caesar’s Head State Park, and major hiking routes such as the Foothills Trail and Palmetto Trail.
The route features approximately 2,000 feet of total elevation gain. Participants begin on a section of road before transitioning onto a series of single-track trails. The course passes several natural landmarks, including Rainbow Falls, the Middle Saluda River, a portion of the Rim of the Gap Trail, and Little Pinnacle Mountain.
This is a cup-less event, and participants are required to provide their own hydration vessels. Two aid stations are located along the course at mile 2 and mile 11, offering water, soda, and various snacks such as pickles, cookies, and pretzels.
