Jones Gap Trail Half Marathon

The Jones Gap Trail Half Marathon takes place within the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, near Marietta, South Carolina. The event starts and finishes at the River Falls Lodge, which is located just outside the boundaries of Jones Gap State Park. This wilderness area spans 13,000 acres of woodlands and connects to local hiking networks including the Foothills Trail and the Palmetto Trail.

Participants follow a route that covers a total distance of 13.1 miles. The course begins on a section of road before transitioning onto single-track trails that feature approximately 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Key natural landmarks along the route include the Middle Saluda River, Little Pinnacle Mountain, and perspectives of Rainbow Falls. The terrain consists of rugged wilderness paths and includes a section of the Rim of the Gap Trail.

There are two aid stations provided for participants, located at mile 2 and mile 11. These stations offer water, soda, and various snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips, and pretzels. This is a cup-less event, and all participants are required to bring their own hydration vessel. Parking is available at the River Falls Lodge Rd location, where packet pickup also occurs on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
