Trick or Trail 5k & 1 Mile, Hendersonville
Trick or Trail 5k & 1 Mile is a Halloween-themed running event presented by Aetna, held in Hendersonville’s Historic 7th Avenue District on October 24, 2026. The event is the 12th annual edition and offers both in-person and virtual participation options. The in-person event includes a well-marked, spectator-friendly course with chip-timing, a goody bag, complimentary race photos, and a custom finisher medal for participants.
Event apparel and swag details: registrations completed before September 27 include a complimentary event shirt in adult and youth sizes; shirts can be added to registration after that date for a fee. Virtual entries include the finisher medal and event shirt, with virtual swag shipped after the event. Transfers to the virtual event are allowed; transfers within two weeks of the event may incur a packaging and shipping charge.
Registration policies noted by the organizer include deferral options up to 15 days before the event (deferral fees apply) and the ability to change race distance with possible fee differences. Transfers between participants are prohibited. All registrations are non-refundable; if the event is modified or converted to virtual, in-person registrations may be transferred to the virtual option and participant swag mailed at no additional charge.
The event features a costume contest with categories such as overall best-dressed kids costume, best-dressed individual, best-dressed friends or family, best-dressed pet, most original costume, and a novelty category. Awards for costume contest winners are presented at the event awards ceremony.
Charitable activities include a winter items collection for the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County. Accepted items must be new and unused and include socks, beanies, blankets, gloves, jackets (5T to adult 2XL), sneakers, toys, and sunscreen. Donations are accepted at packet pickup on race morning.
