TreeTops 8.5 Mile

TreeTops 8.5 Mile is a trail race held in DuPont State Recreational Forest on October 17, 2026. The 4th annual event benefits the Friends of DuPont State Forest and is limited to 300 participants. The course covers 8.5 miles with nearly 1,000 feet of elevation gain and runs on forest trails within Dupont State Forest.

Available event options:

  • 8.5 mile in-person trail race
  • Virtual 8.5 mile run at a location of the participant's choosing

Event amenities listed include on-course hydration stations, medical aid availability, porta-potties, postfinish snacks and refreshments, chip timing and race photos. All finishers receive a custom wooden finisher medal on a leather cord. Registrations completed before September 20 at midnight include a TreeTops long sleeve shirt; shirts are later available for purchase in limited sizes and quantities.

Operational notes from the organizer state that strollers are not suitable for the course and dogs are not permitted. There is no race day registration because of limited internet and wi-fi connectivity. There is no camping permitted in Dupont State Forest.
