Twilight Trail 5K

The Twilight Trail 5K takes place at Kanuga near Hendersonville, North Carolina on August 8, 2026. The event uses a single-loop 5K (3.1 miles) course that combines smooth single-track, double-track, forest road and short paved sections with gentle elevation changes. The route is shaded and routed on Kanuga’s trail system and uses GPS-supported navigation.

Event features include professional chip timing using a timing chip on the back of the race bib and timing mats on course, custom finisher medals, age group awards, and a commemorative shirt. Registrants who complete registration by July 12 receive the shirt at no extra charge; a shirt fee of $25 applies afterward. The route is clearly marked and organizers emphasize a safety-focused, well-organized event atmosphere.

A virtual race option is available; virtual participants receive race shirt and finisher items by mail. The weekend pairs with the Kanuga Triathlon the following morning as part of the Kanuga Weekend Challenge, with separate finisher items and additional event tokens for challenge participants. On-site lodging at Kanuga Inn and primitive camping are offered at discounted participant rates to allow participants to remain close to the venue.

The event supports the iDream Athletes Foundation, which provides needs-based scholarships and local support for Western North Carolina athletes. Transfers into the virtual option are permitted before the event; refunds are not provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
