Not A Sprint Ultra Races
Not A Sprint Ultra Races is the 5th annual event organized by Cancer Active in Forest City, NC. The event consists of timed 3-hour, 6-hour, and 12-hour races held on the flat Thermal Belt Rail Trail. The paved out-and-back loop measures 8.34 mile and starts and finishes at the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS).
Aid stations are described as well-stocked. The course has low elevation change, about 95 ft total, and roughly 35 percent of the route is shaded. Mileage for runners is recorded at the Spindale turnaround (4.17 miles) and at the Forest City aid station (8.35 miles). Drop bags are used at the Spindale aid station and must be labeled for transport and returned to the designated area after use.
Rules specify pacing limits: 3-hour and 6-hour runners may not have pacers; 12-hour runners may have a pacer after six hours, and pacers must be age 18 or older and check in at the Forest City timing station with a signed waiver. Support crews may assist only in the Forest City aid station area. Runners must wear their race numbers on the front or attach the bib to shorts or a belt.
Awards include top three male and female individual placings and top three teams. Runners completing 50 miles within 12 hours earn a Not-A-Sprint belt buckle. Included items list a race shirt, medal, 50-mile buckle, 50k award, drinks, race fuel, post-race food, and one post-race beer. Packet pickup is to be determined.
