Not A Sprint Ultra Races is a timed endurance event held on the paved Thermal Belt Rail Trail with a start and finish at the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS) in Forest City. The course is an 8.34-mile out-and-back loop with low elevation change across the loop (about 95 ft) and roughly 35% shade. Aid stations are described as well-stocked, and medical personnel will be on site for assistance.

Race formats include multiple timed events for individuals and teams:

  • 3-Hour Individual
  • 6-Hour Individual
  • 12-Hour Individual

Relay teams are permitted; each team member must complete at least one lap. For the 12-hour event, pacers are allowed after six hours; pacers must be 18 years or older, check in at the Forest City timing station, and sign a liability waiver. Pacing is not allowed for the 3-hour and 6-hour events. Support crews may assist only at the Forest City aid station area and must not interfere with other participants.

Mileage is tracked at the Spindale turnaround (4.17 miles) and at the Forest City aid station (8.35 miles). Awards are given to the top three male and top three female individual runners and to the top three teams. Runners who complete 50 miles within 12 hours receive a "Not-A-Sprint" belt buckle.
