The course uses the Thermal Belt Rail Trail. It is an out-and-back paved loop of about 8.34 miles, starting and finishing at the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS) in Forest City. Mileage is counted at the Spindale turnaround (4.17 miles) and at the Forest City aid station (about 8.35 miles). The route is described as low elevation, with about 95 ft of change over the loop and roughly 35% shaded.
Support, rules, and awards
Aid stations are described as well-stocked. Pacers are allowed for 12-hour runners after six hours; pacers must be 18 or older and must check in and sign a liability waiver. Pacers are not permitted for 3-hour and 6-hour runners. Support crews may assist only in the Forest City aid station area. Runners must display their bib on the front or attach it to shorts or a bib belt if shirtless. Headphones are allowed. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
Top three male and top three female individuals and top three teams will receive awards. Runners who complete 50 miles within 12 hours receive a "Not-A-Sprint" belt buckle. Packet pickup is listed as TBD. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
