Mountaineer Rumble 12 Hour Trail Run
The Mountaineer Rumble 12 Hour is a timed trail running event held at Kings Mountain State Park in Clover, SC. Participants run a repeated 4.5 mile loop that uses portions of the National Recreation Trail (Blue Blaze), the CCC Multi-Use Trail (Orange Blaze), the Living History Farm area, and the Historic Farm Trail (Yellow Blaze).
The course passes Lake Crawford and Lake Crawford Dam, crosses creeks, and goes over rolling hills. Runners pass the Living History Farm on each loop, where horses, cattle, and donkeys can be seen. The event is staged to allow night running under a full moon.
The race has a 12 hour time limit. Runners may complete as many loops as they choose during that period. An aid station and a drop bag area are located on the loop to provide access to race supplies and personal gear without leaving the course. Organizers provide water, Gatorade, Tailwind, and Skratch while runners are responsible for their own food and gels. For 2026 the event offers special pricing and organizers will cover park insurance and admission fees for each runner. The event aims to highlight sections of the park trail system and support further park improvements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
