Event overview
The Prisoner of War Trail Race is a trail running event on October 24, 2026 at Croft State Park in Spartanburg, SC (450 Croft State Park Road). Distances offered are an ultra and shorter trail options. The event has a 10-hour overall time limit for all races and a 4-hour first-lap cutoff for the 50K. Dogs are allowed on the course. Packet pickup is held on race day at the Activity Center. Parking requires park admission unless the driver has an annual state park pass.
Course, aid and facilities
The course uses a figure-eight loop layout. The 50K completes two full figure-eight loops, the 25K completes one full loop, and the 8-mile follows the northern section of the figure-eight. The route is marked and described as technical, with roots, rocks, and elevation. There is one central aid station at the trail intersection near the Activity Center, located roughly every 8 miles. This is a cup-less event; runners must bring their own hydration vessel. Drop bags and personal tents may be staged at the designated base camp area, and drop bags can be left on picnic tables near the Activity Center. Restrooms and showers are available pre- and post-race.
Entry, awards and policies
Finisher medals are given to all finishers and age group and overall awards are offered. Transfers and distance changes are allowed through a RunSignUp profile. Race shirts are sold separately. No refunds or deferrals are offered except in the event of a sellout, when a future-event discount may be available. Headphones are permitted with caution at crossings.
