DalesRunner 40

DalesRunner 40 is the final race in a local series, starting and finishing at The Dales Bike Centre in Reeth, in the heart of Swaledale with views into Wensleydale. The route runs from Grinton over short road sections, moorland tracks and pasture, and visits a number of local landmarks including Maiden Castle Iron Age Hill Fort, Whitaside Moor, Dent’s Houses, Bolton Estate, Carperby Moor, Castle Bolton, the Height of Greets and Grinton Smelt Mill before returning to The Dales Bike Centre.

The course surface includes hard packed footpaths and tracks, moorland trods and grassy pasture, with some short road sections. Trail shoes are recommended. Competitors receive a tracker and a GPX trace; the route will be fully marked when shared with the Harkerside Hustle short course. Road crossings are marshalled. There is a single generous cut off at the first visit to Dent’s Houses, roughly 7.5 miles; runners who miss this will be redirected onto the half marathon short course.

Aid stations on course are fully stocked and include vegan and gluten free options. A hot post race meal of soup and a roll is included in the entry and additional hot drinks and cakes are available for purchase. Car parking is available. Entrants must be 16 or older; anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
