DalesRunner 40 is the finale held in Semerwater, Raydale, North Yorkshire. The 42km (26.2 miles) course features over 3,000 ft of ascent, combining hard-packed trails, a Dales Way section along the River Wharfe, a climb near Stake Moss, and a fast finish back to Semerwater. It is described as less technical than earlier races but still challenging, with views from Weather Fell and Buckden Pike.

For 2025 the route is largely unmarked; participants get a tracker and GPX trace, with marshalled road crossings and optional pre-race recce. DR40 ULTRA extends distance to about 30 miles.
