DalesRunner 40 is an organised off-road running event at The Dales Bike Centre in Reeth, North Yorkshire. The event day is Sunday 4 October 2026. The minimum age to enter is 16; competitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Entry fees are listed as £45 for UKA members and £47 for non-members. Entries open 27 November 2025 and close 27 September 2026.

Course and logistics

The route starts and finishes in Swaledale and follows moorland tracks, hard packed footpaths, grassy pasture and some short road sections. Key points on the course include Grinton, Maiden Castle Iron Age Hill Fort, Whitaside Moor, Dent’s Houses, the Bolton Estate, Carperby, West Bolton, Castle Bolton, Height of Greets, Grinton Smelt Mill, Sharrow Hill and Cogden Hall. The route will be fully marked when shared with the Harkerside Hustle short course option. Competitors receive a tracker and a GPX trace. Road crossings will be marshalled. There is a cut-off at the first visit to Dent’s Houses (about 7.5 miles); runners who miss that cut-off will be redirected onto the short course.
