It passes Grinton, Maiden Castle Iron Age Hill Fort, Whitaside Moor, Dent’s Houses, the Bolton Estate, Carperby Moor, Carperby village, West Bolton, Castle Bolton, the Height of Greets, Grinton Smelt Mill, Sharrow Hill and Cogden Hall before returning to The Dales Bike Centre. Surfaces include hard packed footpaths and tracks, moorland trods and grassy pasture; trail shoes are recommended.

The course will be fully marked when shared with the Harkerside Hustle short-course option. Competitors receive a tracker and a GPX trace. Road crossings will be marshalled. Aid stations are fully stocked, including vegan and gluten free options. A post-race hot soup and roll is included in the entry; hot drinks and cakes are available for purchase.
