Event overview

Ryde Harriers organise a series of three cross-country races at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde (PO33 4BH). The series takes place on 18 January, 15 February and 22 February 2026. All races use the same start and finish location at Smallbrook Stadium and share the same main course layout.

Distances

  • 10 km for U20, senior and veteran categories (men and women).
  • 6.5 km for U17 (male and female), with a turnaround by the duck pond on Harding Shute.

Entry, limits and eligibility

On-the-day entry is cash only at £7 for non-members and affiliated entrants where applicable. Pre-entry for the event is free to provide a list of runners and clubs. Entry is limited to 300 runners. Minimum age for entry is 15 years. Race 1 is free to Ryde Harriers members and prizes are limited to members for that race. Entrants for Race 3 must have finished at least one of Races 1 or 2; handicap start times for Race 3 are based on best finish times from Races 1 and 2.

Course, facilities and safety

The course is marked with arrows and tape and includes a 270 m section of road with a narrow verge plus two road crossings that will not be carpeted. Runners must check for traffic at crossings and close gates as encountered. Cross-country spikes may be used at the runner's discretion; trail or fell shoes are recommended. Race HQ offers changing and shower facilities, limited free parking, and refreshments. Use of in-ear or over-ear headphones is not permitted; bone-conducting headphones are allowed. Single lap trail races in the Meon Valley from Queen Elizabeth Country Park offering 16 mile, marathon and 50km options with marked routes, aid stations and mandatory fluid carriage.

Guided 30 mile trail run from Harting Down along the South Downs Way, visiting Beacon Hill, Cocking Down and Kingley Vale. Presented as suitable for first time ultra runners, run at a group pace with practical support and route guidance.

Enjoy coastal paths and scenic marshes at the Chichester Harbour Trail Run in Chidham, with 21 km and 16 km trail routes on 28 February 2026. Runners, canicross teams and hikers are all welcome for a welcoming day outdoors.
