Valley Park Tour Of The Woods : Event description

Tour of the Woods returns in 2026 on Sunday 19th July at Knightwood Leisure Centre. The main event is a 10 km mixed terrain run through the ancient woodlands of Valley Park and Knightwood. The route is staged into five sections, each between 500 metres and 3 km. Between stages runners have a rest period that does not count toward the overall time.

The event uses chip timing and is marshalled. There is a water station at the halfway point and prizes for the best overall running times. Food options at the finish include a breakfast bap, cake and a BBQ. A kids run called the Twiglet Tour takes place alongside the main event.

Key practical points:

  • 10 km mixed trail and road running
  • Kids Run Twiglet Tour

Organisers state the event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and will be run under UKA rules. Runners must be 18 or over to participate. Dogs are not permitted to run; well behaved dogs may be at race headquarters. Headphones are not permitted except bone-conducting types when the participant can still hear marshal instructions. Anyone causing damage or leaving litter in the woods may be disqualified. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Woodland Trust. The event is accessible by foot, bike and train and is organised by Chandler's Ford Swifts Running Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
