Crooked Loops Trail Run

The Crooked Loops Trail Run takes place at Independence Oaks Park in Clarkston, Michigan on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The event uses trails around Crooked Lake and passes through hardwood forests and wood chip paths, during the peak of fall colors in the area. All races begin and end near the Twin Chimneys Pavilion.

Distances:

  • 2.5 miles single circuit around Crooked Lake following the Lakeshore Trail, with rolling hills.
  • 5.5 miles completes two loops, adding the Rock Ridge Trail on the second circuit.
  • 8.5 miles completes three loops and continues onto the Spring Lake Trail.

Each registered participant receives a custom race shirt while supplies last, a finisher medal described as a woodallion, and refreshments. Awards are given to the overall male and female winners in each race and to the top three finishers in each age group. Age groups are grouped by decades starting at 1–9 and continuing through 80 plus.

Parking, restrooms, water, registration, and packet pick-up are located near the start area. The course and park remain open to the public during the event, and participants are expected to be courteous to other park users. Race proceeds support local community and athletic groups and teams.
