Campfire 5K : event overview

The Campfire 5K takes place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Skyline Camp and Retreat Center in Almont, Michigan. The event is the second annual running of the Campfire 5K and is held on Skyline’s 200 acres, which include the highest point in Lapeer County. The event offers the following distances:

  • 5 km
  • 1 mile

The listed entry prices are $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1 mile. Timing is provided by Rotpac Racing and the event will be chip-timed. Registered participants receive a unique finisher’s medal, post-race banana and water, and a post-race s'more. Race t-shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before 9/22.

Course, rules, and post-race

Both the 1 mile and 5K courses use wooded trails, fields, and a private dirt road. No public roads are part of the courses. Dogs are not allowed. Strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers may be used at the participant’s own risk; the routes include steep inclines and declines and natural trail obstructions such as rocks and roots. Post-race offerings include water, bananas, and a station to make a s'more. Sunrise Susie's Coffee Company and the camp kitchen will have items available for purchase. Join the Bad Santa Trail 5K at Addison Oaks for a festive winter trail run with rolling hills and a kids fun run. Expect dirt and blacktop trails that may be snowy or muddy, plus hot cocoa, cookies and a warming fire after the race.
