Campfire 5K

Campfire 5K is a running event held at Camp Skyline in Almont on September 26, 2026. Camp Skyline covers 200 acres and includes the highest point in Lapeer County. The event comprises two distances:

  • 5K
  • 1 Mile

Both courses use wooded trails, fields, and a private dirt road. No public roads are part of the routes. The trails include steep inclines and declines and natural obstacles such as rocks and roots. Strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers may be used at participants' own risk.

The event is chip timed, with professional timing services provided by Rotpac Racing. Finishers receive a unique medal. Post-race provisions include water, bananas, and an opportunity to make a s'more. Race shirts are guaranteed only for those who register before September 22. Awards will be given to first, second, and third place male and female finishers in the 5K, and first place male and female in the 1 mile. Additional age group awards may be added before race day.

Food and beverage vendors will be available for purchase, including a local coffee vendor and offerings from the camp kitchen. Dogs are not allowed at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
