THE ROOTED HALF MARATHON & 5K
The Rooted Half Marathon & 5K takes place at Orion Oaks County Park in Lake Orion, Michigan. The event offers multiple on-site and virtual distance options.
- 13.1 miles half marathon (two loops)
- 3.1 miles 5K run/walk
- 3.1 miles 5K doggie division, capped at 50 pups
- 13.1 miles virtual half marathon
- 3.1 miles virtual 5K run/walk
The course uses well-maintained, multi-use trails that wind through wooded and grassy areas. Terrain ranges from flat to gently rolling, and the route runs through a landscape described as autumnal and forest-like.
The event area is within a dog park that contains multiple pens. The race start and finish are inside one of the pens that opens onto the park trail system. Dogs must be leashed at all times in the event staging area and on the trails. The only places where dogs may be off leash are the open dog pens. The 5K doggie division participants receive a custom bandana and a dog biscuit.
Registration offers an option to join or create a PACK, a social group that can include participants across any distance and both onsite and virtual entries. Two charity partners will have booths onsite and there will be an opportunity for pet adoption. Swag options include a crewneck sweatshirt or a trucker hat, and virtual entries receive the same swag with packet mailing included in the entry fee.
