Tails & Trails 5K

The Tails & Trails 5K is an annual event held in Clarkston, Michigan, taking place at Independence Oaks. This third annual event is open to participants of all ages, including walkers and runners. The course utilizes the trail system within the park.

Participants can choose between two primary distances:

  • 5 km
  • 1 km (Cat Walk)

Domestic pets, specifically dogs and cats, are permitted to accompany their owners in both the 5 km and 1 km events. All participating animals must have a current license and be kept on a leash no longer than six feet. Owners are required to maintain control of their pets throughout the duration of the event.

The site features a family fun zone and various activities accessible throughout the day. Local animal-related businesses, including markets and groomers, will also be present on-site. The event serves as a fundraiser for Great Lakes Dog Rescue, an organization that provides shelter and medical care for adoptable dogs from animal control facilities and owner-surrenders.
