Tails & Trails 5K

Tails & Trails 5K is a community running event on 08/16/2026 at Independence Oaks in Clarkston, Michigan. The event day includes a main 5K race and a shorter Cat Walk 1K for children. The venue will host a family fun zone and on-site vendors from local animal businesses such as markets and groomers.

Registration details are provided for each event, with a registration fee of $25.00 for the 5K and $15.00 for the 1K. All participants will receive a race medal; if organizers run out of medals, one will be mailed after the race. T-shirts will be distributed while supplies last.

The event raises funds through donations for two animal organizations: Great Lakes Dog Rescue and Teachers Pet. Great Lakes Dog Rescue focuses on sheltering and caring for adoptable dogs until adoption and on community education about responsible pet ownership. Teachers Pet facilitates animal assisted interventions with shelter dogs to support vulnerable populations and improve dog adoptability.

Walking and running are both permitted. Dogs and cats may participate with their owner provided the animal has a current license and is kept on a six foot leash. Participants are asked to keep control of their pets at all times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
