Event

Country to Capital is a 43-mile point-to-point ultra marathon organised by Go Beyond Events. The next scheduled edition is on 10 January 2026. The race starts in Wendover at the Shoulder of Mutton Pub and finishes at the Stowe Centre by the Little Venice canal basin in London, close to Paddington and Royal Oak stations. Entry includes an electronic GPS tracker. The entry fee is listed at £80. Entry is restricted to participants aged over 18. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers; all finishers receive a medal and event merchandise. The race has an overall cutoff of 11 hours.

Course and logistics

The route runs through Buckinghamshire countryside and follows the Grand Union Canal towpath into London. Terrain comprises approximately 11.0 miles of cross-country trails (26%), 12.1 miles of roads and paths (28%) and 20 miles of canal towpath (46%). Total recorded elevation gain is +1375 ft (419 m) with descent -1720 ft (-524 m). There are five checkpoints supplying water, snacks and other refreshments. Competitors are provided with a Geo Tracks GPS tracker and can be followed in real time via the tracking app or live web view. One carry-on sized bag (56 x 45 x 25 cm) will be transferred to the finish. A mandatory kit list is enforced, including phone, power bank, minimum 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, torch, hat and gloves, and a long-sleeved base layer.
