Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay
The Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay is an 8 mile trail event on June 5, 2027, at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC. Runners may compete solo or as part of a relay team that splits the distance into four laps.
The course is one two mile grassy loop run four times. The loop runs through shaded trails at the preserve with rolling hills and wildlife sightings such as deer and foxes. A rustic barn at the start and finish serves as race headquarters and the beer staging area.
The format pairs each lap with a mystery beer drawn from a pooled supply and handed to the runner before a lap, but drinking is optional. Under 21 and sober runners use carbonated non alcoholic alternatives and are scored in a separate division. Relay teams consist of two to four runners with one runner per lap.
Amenities and race services include on site packet pickup at The Barn, chip timing with live results, a custom finisher medal and tattoo, event themed giveaways, post race pizza available for pre order, and complimentary race photos. There is no aid station on the loop; water is available at the finish. Parking is available in adjacent field lots; a $5 facility fee is collected during registration.
