Long Night in Lanford
Long Night in Lanford is a dusk to dawn trail event held at a farm in Enoree, South Carolina, near 210 Service Dr. The event runs through the night on a repeated loop course and includes on-site camping and crew space.
Participants complete repeated one mile off-road loops. To be recorded as a finisher, the first lap must be run at dusk and the final lap at dawn. The overall winner is the person who completes the most laps by sunrise. There are no cut-off times or minimum speed requirements; participants may walk, jog, or run.
The loop starts and finishes at a barn on gravel, goes downhill into the woods, crosses an open field along Beaverdam Creek, passes through pine trees and hay pastures, and returns to the barn. Expect uneven terrain and possible wildlife typical of a Southern fall night. Strollers and pets are not permitted.
Night operations include a first lap at sunset to get bearings, continuous use of headlamps and flashlights through the night, horn blasts marking the start, a midnight direction change, and a final lap at dawn. Participants should bring their own light source. An aid station will be staffed through the night with snacks, water, and hot food provided by volunteers and sponsors.
Gates open midday on Saturday with packet pickup in the afternoon. Post-race provisions include professional photos, a hot breakfast at sunrise, awards, and T-shirts for entries received by October 15. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
