The Cocodona 250 is an ultrarunning event that traverses central Arizona, linking historic towns and diverse trail systems. Participants travel from the Sonoran Desert in Black Canyon City to the ponderosa pine forests of Flagstaff. The point-to-point route utilizes a mix of single-track trails, double-track roads, and pavement, reaching a maximum elevation of 9,241 feet.

The event offers several distance options to accommodate different endurance goals:

  • 250 Mile: A 252.9 mile journey from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff with 38,791 feet of gain.
  • 125 Mile: A 125.9 mile route starting in Jerome and finishing in Flagstaff.
  • 100 Mile: A 99.9 mile race from Black Canyon City to Prescott.
  • 80 Mile: A 79.8 mile traverse from Prescott to Sedona.
  • 40 Mile: A 39.1 mile run focused on the trails around Flagstaff.

The course passes through several notable locations, including the Black Canyon National Recreation Trail, the Bradshaw Mountains, and the red rock canyons of Sedona. Runners navigate through historic areas such as Crown King, Jerome, and Clarkdale before finishing in downtown Flagstaff. Aid stations are situated along the routes, providing water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks, with many offering hot meals.
