  • 250 Miles

The full 250 mile route runs from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff and passes through Crown King, Prescott, Jerome, Clarkdale, Sedona, and Flagstaff. The courses move through a variety of landscapes: Sonoran desert and saguaros, mining roads and Bradshaw Mountain ridgelines, Granite Dells and Watson Lake near Prescott, the Verde River and Verde Valley, Sedona red rock canyons, and the Ponderosa pine forests of the Coconino Plateau. The Arizona Trail is used for a section near Walnut Canyon and the final highpoint includes the Mount Elden summit before the approach into downtown Flagstaff.

Key course facts for the 250 mile course include a listed distance of 252.9 miles, total estimated elevation gain of 38,791 feet and loss of 33,884 feet, a maximum elevation near 9,241 feet, and a surface mix of single track, double track, and pavement. Crew access and a first crew aid location at Crown King (about 37 miles in) are noted. Carrying a GPS enabled device with the course file downloaded is mandatory for participants.
