Memorial Day Flag Run : event overview

The Memorial Day Flag Run takes place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Black Canyon City Trailhead in Black Canyon City, Arizona. The event offers both running and rucking options on two distance choices:

  • 5K Ruck
  • 10K Ruck

Participants may complete the distances as a run or hike, and ruck entries use a 35 lb rucksack option.

Course, logistics and beneficiary

Both courses are out-and-back routes on the Black Canyon Trails. The event is cupless to reduce waste; participants are asked to bring a handheld water bottle or a hydration bladder. Emergency water will be available on course and the stations are staffed by U.S. Marine veterans; attendees are advised that water stations may require a physical challenge such as burpees. Organizers note conditions may be hot and recommend appropriate clothing.
