Memorial Day Flag Run

The Memorial Day Flag Run is scheduled for May 23, 2026 at the Black Canyon City Trailhead in Black Canyon City, Arizona. The event offers trail running and rucking on the Black Canyon Trails as a way to pay tribute to those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Distances and event options:

  • 5K Run
  • 10K Run
  • 5K Ruck (option with 35 lb rucksack)
  • 10K Ruck (option with 35 lb rucksack)

Both courses are out and back on the Black Canyon Trails. Participants are encouraged to carry an American flag, either individually or with a team. The event is cupless to reduce waste; participants should bring a handheld water bottle or a hydration bladder. Emergency water will be available on course at stations staffed by US Marine Veterans, and those stations may require participants to perform a set of burpees for water. Organizers note that temperatures can be high and advise appropriate clothing.

A portion of registration proceeds and any donations will go to Anthem Daisy Mountain Veterans, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2012. That organization supports veterans and their families and works on community programs related to veteran well being, youth activities, and civic values.
