About the race

The Cocodona event week in Arizona features a series of point‑to‑point trail races held May 2–7, 2027, centered on a 250 mile route between Black Canyon City and Flagstaff. The route links multiple towns and trail systems and passes through Sonoran desert, canyons, ponderosa pine forests, and national recreation trails.

  • 125 miles Sedona Canyons

The 250 mile course lists an estimated elevation gain of 38,791 feet and loss of 33,884 feet (2026), with a stated maximum elevation near 9,241 feet. Surface distribution for the 250 mile course is approximately 45% single‑track, 46% double‑track, and 9% pavement. The 250 course includes 21 aid stations and 4 water drops; aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, sodas, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, vegetarian and vegan options, and most will offer a substantial hot meal. Time limits are published by race distance; for the 250 mile event the time limit is 125 hours.

A GPS enabled device with the course file downloaded is mandatory for participants; the organizer notes smartphone mapping apps and GPX downloads from CalTopo as acceptable options. The route crosses multiple Indigenous traditional lands; the organizer includes a land acknowledgement for those territories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
