Elephant Mountain Trail Runs - Cave Creek Regional Park
Elephant Mountain Trail Runs take place at Cave Creek Regional Park in Cave Creek, Arizona. The event offers multiple distances on single track trails and dirt roads through Cave Creek Regional Park, the Maricopa Trail, Tonto National Forest, and Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area.
The available distances are:
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- 35K
- 22K
- 12K
- 6K
Courses follow typical desert trail conditions including rocks, sand, cactus and gravel. Trails are marked with colored signs and ribboning that correspond to each race distance; the 6K follows orange signs. Aid stations are located approximately every 3 to 7 miles and provide water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. The event is cupless and offers reusable cups at registration or runners may bring their own.
Logistics include remote parking options with shuttle service to the start area and a park entry fee of $10 per vehicle as of January 1, 2026. Drop bags are allowed for the 50 Mile and 50K at Spur Cross and additionally for the 50 Mile at Seven Springs. Pacers are permitted for the 50 Mile at specified aid stations; pacers are not allowed for the 50K.
Medical staff are based at the start and finish and may remove runners for safety when necessary. Awards are given to the top three men and women at each distance and all finishers receive a finisher award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
