Elephant Mountain Trail Runs, Cave Creek, AZ
Elephant Mountain Trail Runs takes place on February 6, 2027 at Cave Creek Regional Park with the Horse Staging Area used as the start and finish location. The event offers multiple race distances on marked desert trails.
Available distances include:
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- 35K
- 22K
- 12K
- 6K
All courses use single track trails and dirt roads through Cave Creek Regional Park, the Maricopa Trail, Tonto National Forest, and Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area. Expect typical desert trail conditions: rocks, sand, gravel, and Saguaro cactus. Course signs and orange ribbons mark junctions; signs use distance-specific colors to differentiate routes.
Aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 7 miles and provide water, an electrolyte drink, snacks, and fruit. The event is cupless; reusable cups are available or participants may bring their own. Additional food options are provided at specific aid stations for the longest distance. Drop bags are permitted at designated remote aid stations for the 50 Mile and 50K; the 35K has no remote drop bag.
Crews can access the start/finish and some remote aid stations; pacers are restricted for certain distances. Time limits apply by distance and the 50 Mile includes mandatory cutoffs on remote sections. Medical staff are based at the start/finish and on course. Remote parking and campground facilities are available at the park. A park entry fee applies per vehicle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
