Participants can observe local wildlife, such as wild turkeys, while traversing the course.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 5K (3.0 miles with 315 feet of elevation gain)
- 10K (6.4 miles with 750 feet of elevation gain)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles with 1,400 feet of elevation gain)
Course Details
The terrain consists of moderately technical dirt trails and fire roads. Each route involves a climb starting approximately 1.5 miles into the course, leading to views of Mt. Tam, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay. The Half Marathon distance has a 4.5-hour time limit. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted at this venue.
Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbons approximately every 200 meters, along with laminated signs and flour arrows at complicated sections. Blue ribbons are used specifically to indicate a "wrong way."
Logistics and Participation
This is a cupless event, meaning no paper cups are provided at aid stations. Runners must carry their own water bottles or reusable cups. Aid stations are stocked with varied nutrition, including energy gels, electrolyte drinks, salty snacks, and fresh fruit.
The event has a total capacity of 250 runners across all distances. All participants are chip-timed and receive a custom finisher medal. While dogs are welcome at the Miwok Meadows start and finish area, they are not permitted on the trails within China Camp State Park. Total parking is available at no charge along N. San Pedro Road near the entrance to Miwok Meadows. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
