China Camp Trail Run
The China Camp Trail Run is a set of trail races held at China Camp State Park in San Rafael, California on May 23, 2026. The event offers multiple distances and uses an extensive network of single track trails and fire roads with views of Mt. Tam, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay.
Distances offered:
- Half marathon: 13.1 miles, 1,400 feet elevation gain
- 10K: 6.4 miles, 750 feet elevation gain
- 5K: 3.0 miles, 315 feet elevation gain
Most of the courses run on moderately technical dirt trails and fire roads. Courses include a sustained climb beginning about 1.5 miles in, forested sections, and open trails on the San Pablo Bay side. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon placed roughly every 200 meters; blue ribbons indicate wrong way and should not be passed.
All races are chip timed with disposable chips attached to the back of each bib. Aid stations supply packaged snacks, gels, electrolyte drink mix, water, and basic first aid items; distances between stations vary so runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. This is a cupless event, so runners must carry their own water bottle or reusable cup; collapsible cups will be available for purchase on site for $5.
Parking is free; organizers ask participants to park along N. San Pedro Road at the Miwok Meadows entrance and walk the dirt access road to the start/finish area. Total field capacity is limited to 250 runners across all distances. Race shirts are tri-blend performance tees and sizes are guaranteed only for registrations completed by May 9, 2026.
Entry fees are non-refundable. A 50 percent credit toward a future Inside Trail Racing event may be issued if cancellation is received at least three weeks before the race; no credits or refunds are provided for cancellations within three weeks. If the organizer cancels an event for any reason, refunds are not provided though future race credit may be offered at the organizer's discretion.
