Course and logistics
Most of the routes run on moderately technical dirt trails, with twisty single-track, some fire road, and climbs on the Montara Mountain foothills. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon about every 200 meters; blue ribbons mark wrong-way trails. Laminated signs and flour arrows are used at complex intersections.
Aid stations provide a range of foods and drinks such as energy gels, Stroopwafels, trail mix, chips, PB&J, Coke, water, and Skratch Labs hydration mix. Aid stations carry basic first aid items but not anti-inflammatory medicine. This is a cupless event so runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup; reusable cups will be available for purchase at the event. Drop bag service is not available. Race shirts are a District Perfect-Tri tri-blend tee; guaranteed shirt size requires registration by January 10, 2026. Awards include trophies for top three overall and medals for finishers and age-group places. Volunteers receive a race T-shirt, food, and event credit.
