Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge
The Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge is a looped endurance event set in the countryside of the Chilterns. Participants navigate a route featuring historic trails, rolling hills, nature reserves, and views of the surrounding landscape. The event is based at the Henley Showground and offers various distance options to accommodate different goals.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 50 km: A loop starting and finishing at the Henley basecamp with approximately 920 meters of elevation.
- 25 km: A looped route from the Henley basecamp involving roughly 500 meters of elevation.
- 10 km: A shorter loop starting and finishing at the basecamp with about 235 meters of elevation.
The event provides comprehensive support, including a fully signed route with pink arrows and glow-sticks for visibility. GPS tracking is available through a dedicated mobile app, and progress is monitored by a central control room. Rest stops are positioned approximately every 12.5 km, offering covered infrastructure, seating, and medical support.
Hospitality services include regular snack stops and main meals at specific intervals. Water, hot drinks, and energy drinks are provided at all stations. At the finish line, participants receive a medal, a finisher's T-shirt, and a glass of fizz followed by a meal. On-site facilities at the Henley basecamp include parking, camping packages with hot showers, and a bar. Shuttle buses operate between the basecamp and the nearest train station for transit.
