Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge : Overview

The Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge takes place on Saturday 26 September 2026 with a Henley basecamp. The event uses looped routes that start and finish at Henley Showground and run through Chilterns countryside, using historic trails, rolling hills and nature reserves. Participants may walk, jog or run and can enter as individuals or teams. There are category options including an Ultra March for fast walkers and a Trailblazerz option for faster, time-targeted runners, plus a Solo Challenger start option.

  • 50 km loop : ~920 m elevation
  • 25 km loop : ~500 m elevation
  • 10 km loop : ~235 m elevation

The route is fully signed and marked with directional arrows, and GPS maps and tracking are provided via the event App. The organiser uses a timing system that scans participants at rest stops.

Logistics and support

Basecamp in Henley offers on-site camping, parking and camping packages (including hot showers for multi-day participants), a Saturday evening meal and a bar. The event provides covered rest stops about every 12.5 km, main meals approximately every 25 km, and hot drinks, water and energy drinks at stops. Medical support includes doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists and masseurs, with a central control room monitoring progress. Shuttle buses and transfers run to nearby train stations.
