Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K

The Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K is a trail ultramarathon held on 18 April 2026 along the Chiltern Hills ridge. The advertised distance is 50K with 996m+ of elevation, though the current route is slightly long at about 51km due to HS2-related path closures. The event starts in the grounds of Berkhamsted Castle and finishes at Hampden Meadow in Wendover, following the Ridgeway National Trail and passing Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill.

The course is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons, and marshals are placed at key points. A GPX file and printed maps are provided; runners are asked to carry a digital copy on a watch or phone as backup. There are three full checkpoints approximately at 14.3km, 29.6km and around 42km, with water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration drinks, gels and chews, snacks and fresh fruit. Satellite water points may be added in hot weather. Toilets are available at the start, finish and all checkpoints, and a pop-up changing tent is provided at the finish.

Additional event details: maximum 400 runners, minimum age 20, 9-hour overall time limit, licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Required kit includes a mobile phone, route GPX plus paper map, light jacket or emergency blanket, at least 0.5L refillable hydration, a collapsible cup and payment method. Entry fee is listed at £75 (£73 for affiliated runners). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
