The Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K takes place on 18th April 2026 in the Chiltern Hills. The race distance is 51K with approximately 996 m+ of ascent. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. The field is limited to 400 runners and the minimum age is 20. Dogs are not permitted. The race is an UTMB World Series Index race.
Route, support and entry
The route starts at Berkhamsted Castle and finishes at Hampden Meadow, Wendover, following sections of the Ridgeway National Trail via Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill. The course is fully marked and marshals will assist at road crossings and busy sections. There are three main aid stations at about 15.1km, 28.9km and 42.8km; they provide water, cola, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels and chews, crisps, flapjacks and fresh fruit. Satellite water points may be added in hot weather. There is course-wide medical support, chip timing, finishers medals and race photos. Entry costs £75 (£73 for affiliated runners) and a nine-hour overall time limit applies. All runners must carry required gear including a mobile phone, GPX route plus paper map, a light jacket or emergency blanket, a refillable water system (0.5L minimum), a collapsible cup and cash or card.
