The Chiltern Ridge Classic is an ultra trail race held on 18 April 2026. The course covers 51 km with approximately 996 m of ascent. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Maximum field size is 400 runners and the race has a 9-hour time limit. Minimum age to enter is 20. Entry cost is £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners). The race appears on the UTMB World Series index.

Course and logistics

The route starts at Berkhamsted Castle and finishes at Hampden Meadow in Wendover, following sections of the Ridgeway National Trail and passing Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Aldbury, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill. The current route is slightly long at 51 km due to HS2 road and footpath closures around Wendover. Navigation is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons; marshals will staff road crossings and busier sections. There are three full checkpoints on the route and additional satellite water points may be added in hot weather. Checkpoints provide water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration drinks and gels, snacks including flapjacks, and fresh fruit. Required kit includes a mobile phone, GPX route file plus paper map, light jacket or emergency blanket, refillable hydration (minimum 0.5 L), a collapsible cup, and cash or bank card.
