Charlie Horse Trail Half Marathon and Dirty Pony 5K

The Charlie Horse Trail Half Marathon and the Dirty Pony 5K are trail races organized by the Pagoda Pacers to benefit Berks County Special Olympics, held at Sleepy Hollow Athletic Club in Mohnton, PA on May 24, 2026. The course uses the Horse-Shoe Trail and nearby roads and private trails in Brecknock Township, with varied terrain that includes single track, country roads, and a Plowville section described as containing lagoons, waterfalls, campsites, rocks, and mud.

The event is supported by three aid stations positioned along the half marathon course. There is a cutoff at the third aid station (approximately 10 miles) of three hours; sweepers and aid station staff may determine who continues after that point. Entries for the half marathon are limited to 300. Runners under 16 must contact the race director for approval prior to registering. Shirt availability for the half marathon is limited after May 1, 2026.

Distances

  • Half marathon on Horse-Shoe Trail and connecting roads, mostly single track
  • Dirty Pony 5K all trail on the Plowville section, the most difficult portion

Race entries include finisher swag and age group awards for the half marathon; the Dirty Pony also offers finisher swag and awards. Post race food and beverages and an award ceremony are provided for participants. No outside alcohol or dogs are permitted on the premises.
