The course runs on the south side of Blue Marsh Lake. The basic layout is a lollipop: 5.5 miles out, a 4.5 mile loop, and 5.5 miles back. 50K entrants complete the loop twice and have access to a drop bag at mile 15.5. Surface is about 80% single track trail and 20% gravel road, with occasional rocks and roots. Typical weather at this time of year has start temperatures in the 30s and average highs near 43 degrees F; trails may be snow covered, icy, or muddy.

Aid stations are located at miles 3, 6, 10, 13, 15.5, 18.5, 21.5, 25.5, and 28.5. Timing is by tear off bibs; bibs must be visible on the front and runners must complete the distance they entered. Finishers receive a German style finisher memento, and awards go to top three overall and top three in age groups 39 and under, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus. Post race food is provided by a chef and a pastry chef and awards are handed out as runners cross the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
