Naked Nick

Naked Nick is a winter trail running event held at Blue Marsh Lake on Sunday, Dec 13th 2026. The event presents a back-to-the-basics format with low entry fees and minimal extra amenities. Two distance options are offered:

  • 25 KM
  • 50 KM Ultra

The 25 KM is described as very hiker friendly and follows a single 15.5-mile lollipop loop on the scenic south side of the lake. The 50 KM consists of two laps of the same course and includes drop-bag access at mile 16. The route is a lollipop layout with about 5.5 miles out, a 4.5-mile loop, and 5.5 miles back.

The course mixes single track and gravel roads through rolling hills. Elevation gain is listed at approximately 1,400 ft for the 25 KM and 2,800 ft for the 50 KM. Aid stations are placed every 3 to 4 miles. The event runs in rain, shine, or snow unless snow depth is extreme, and winter trail conditions can increase difficulty due to mud, ice, or snow. Timing is manual with bibs required to be visible on the front. Post-race food is provided and every finisher receives a traditional German-style memento. Refunds are available before Nov 15th minus a processing fee; entries are final after that date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
