Blues Cruise

The Blues Cruise is a 50K trail ultramarathon held near Blue Marsh Lake in Reading, PA. The 31 mile loop runs through woods and fields with single track, rolling hills, and less than 0.5 miles of public roadway. The course includes one major climb called the Ski Slope, with about 240 feet of vertical gain, and one optional water crossing that can be taken by splash or by bridge.

There are seven themed aid stations that are stocked and staffed by local ultrarunners. A 9 hour time limit is strictly enforced; aid stations 5, 6, and 7 have strict cutoff times to facilitate the deadline. A sweep vehicle will be available for runners who are cut and some wait time is expected. Camping is available for a small fee.

A relay option allows teams of two to four runners to divide the 50K into four legs. A team captain must register the team before individual relay members register; relay registration is per person and priced lower than the solo 50K. Relay legs are approximately: Lead Out ~4.7 miles, Voyager ~13.3 miles, Mountaineer ~7.1 miles including the Ski Slope, and Finisher ~6.75 miles. Relay aid station support is limited; all registered entrants have access to post race activities and the buffet.

The event is organized by the Pagoda Pacers, a local running club with more than 200 members, and typically uses nearly 100 volunteers. Race shirts are ordered for registrants signed up by August 31. No deferrals or transfers are permitted except under the Trail Sisters criteria. All finishers receive special swag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
