Knight Ruck at Gov. Dick
The Knight Ruck is a night time event held at the Gov. Dick Environmental Center in Mt. Gretna, PA. This event supports two nonprofit organizations based in Lebanon County. Participants navigate the trails after sunset, and the course is located at 3283 Pinch Rd.
Participants have the choice of two distances:
- 4 miles
- 8 miles
While this is a rucking event, individuals may participate without a weighted pack. For those choosing to ruck, adults aged 16 and over are expected to carry 35 lbs, excluding water weight. Junior participants up to age 15 should carry a weight equivalent to 20% of their body weight, also excluding water. Prizes are awarded to the top two finishers in the 4 mile, 8 mile, and Junior categories, though only those carrying the required weights are eligible for these awards.
Because the event takes place after dark, specific gear is required for safety and navigation. Every participant must have a headlamp, a water source, and if they are competing for prizes, a ruck. Registration and a mandatory briefing take place on-site before the start of the movement. All proceeds from the event are divided between The Knights of the Kingdom and the Gov. Dick Environmental Center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
