Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge 2026

The Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge is a trail running event held at Tackeroo Campsite in Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The event offers three measured distances:

  • 10 km
  • 13.1 miles
  • 26.2 miles

All courses are 100% off road on undulating trails. The route uses a figure-of-eight layout around the start and finish arena. The 10 km and half marathon are single laps; the full marathon is two laps of the same course. The route includes rolling terrain, hard stone tracks and singletrack sections; surfaces can be uneven and muddy, so trail shoes are recommended.

Water stations are provided approximately every 4 miles and distance markers are placed every mile. Parking is off road, free and located about 100 metres from the start. Facilities at the arena include toilets, catering, a photographer with free downloads, free parking and free camping on Friday and Saturday evenings. Bag storage will be available.

A marathon relay is offered for teams of two, with each runner completing one half-marathon lap. Age limits apply: 10 km over 14s, half marathon over 16s, full marathon over 18s. Entry is strictly limited to 500. Finishers receive a medal and a goodie bag; prizes are awarded for top places in each category. Trail runs nearby

An in-person 8 km trail loop around Calke Abbey nature park, meeting at Ticknall Village Hall Car Park. Organised by Run 4 U and Perform Running Club, with free parking and refunds available up to one day before the event.

A backyard ultra at Far Coley Farm on 29 May 2026 where runners complete a 4.167 mile loop every hour until one runner remains. The event features a race village, limited on site accommodation and basic recovery facilities.

A reworked May 2026 50 mile trail around Telford passing Ironbridge and the Wrekin, with four checkpoints, recommended trail shoes and a 9PM cut off. Participants report good waymarking and well stocked aid stations.

03 June 2026 at Kinver Edge, a 10 km trail run over two laps on local tracks with varied climbs. Canicross is permitted and advance entries cost £10, with limited places and series entry open until 1 May 2026.
