Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge 2026

The Merrell Cannock Chase Challenge is a trail running event held at Tackeroo Campsite in Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The event offers three measured distances:

  • 10 km
  • 13.1 miles
  • 26.2 miles

All courses are 100% off road on undulating trails. The route uses a figure-of-eight layout around the start and finish arena. The 10 km and half marathon are single laps; the full marathon is two laps of the same course. The route includes rolling terrain, hard stone tracks and singletrack sections; surfaces can be uneven and muddy, so trail shoes are recommended.

Water stations are provided approximately every 4 miles and distance markers are placed every mile. Parking is off road, free and located about 100 metres from the start. Facilities at the arena include toilets, catering, a photographer with free downloads, free parking and free camping on Friday and Saturday evenings. Bag storage will be available.

A marathon relay is offered for teams of two, with each runner completing one half-marathon lap. Age limits apply: 10 km over 14s, half marathon over 16s, full marathon over 18s. Entry is strictly limited to 500. Finishers receive a medal and a goodie bag; prizes are awarded for top places in each category. There is no formal cut off time provided, though runners should finish before dark. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
