The Calderdale Hike is organised by the 24th St Paul’s Scout Group and takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026. The event is open to entrants aged 14 years or over on the day. It has been run annually since 1979 and raises money for the scout group. The start and registration location is St Peter’s Cricket Club, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 1DF.

Routes are circular and run from Sowerby Bridge into the high Pennine valleys, over tracks across surrounding moors. The long route involves about 5,500 feet of ascent, the medium route about 3,800 feet of ascent, and the short route about 2,700 feet of ascent. Some sections include steep ascents and descents and navigation skills are recommended in poor weather.

Entries and logistics

Entries open 12 September 2025 and close 9 April 2026. Entry fees listed are £25 per individual and £90 per team of four. The event includes refreshments at headquarters and checkpoints, water at roadside checkpoints, transport from roadside retirement points back to headquarters, a hot meal at headquarters, a licensed bar, a certificate of achievement, and a full results sheet with professional timing provided by Race Result.
