The Cabin Fever 50K is a winter, point-to-point ultramarathon of 50K held in New River Gorge National Park, West Virginia. The course runs from downtown Fayetteville to Hawks Nest State Park. The route includes high ridgeline single-track, waterfalls, and a descent to the banks of the New River beneath the New River Gorge Bridge. The course shares much of the Rim to River 100 route.
Logistics and support
Check-in is offered on the day before the race at ACE Adventure Resort - Lost Paddle Bar & Grill and on race day at ACE Adventure Gear in downtown Fayetteville. A free shuttle service is provided from the finish at Hawks Nest State Park to the start in Fayetteville; participants must register for the shuttle by February 13 via the event organizer’s online store. Participants have 10 hours to complete the course. The race is supported by three fully stocked aid stations and one hydration station along the route. All finishers who complete the course within the allotted time receive a custom Cabin Fever 50K finisher medal. Awards and prizes are given to the top ten male and top ten female finishers.
Entry, gear and proceeds
Registrations made by December 21 receive a custom race shirt. Full refunds are available through December 21. Deferrals, rollovers, or partial refunds after that date are handled case by case. Race proceeds support Adventure Appalachia, a nonprofit that funds and connects people to outdoor programs in the New River Gorge region.
