New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race

The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a road running event that crosses the New River Gorge near Fayetteville, West Virginia. The course covers 6 miles, starting on one rim, descending to the river where runners cross the New River, and returning to the rim of the opposite side with a short trail section to finish. The route includes a 1,300 foot descent and a 1,300 foot climb, with the steepest section reaching a 20 percent grade. The finish area offers an overlook photo opportunity and a finish at the resort rim side pool.

The event is hosted by Active Southern West Virginia at Adventures on the Gorge. Registration includes a post race catered brunch overlooking the New River Gorge. Race operations use a closed road course with chip timing, a water station on route, bus transportation to the start line, a finisher medal, a short sleeve t shirt, and finish line photos. Packet pickup is available the day before the race and on race morning. Awards are given to top finishers in each age bracket in the running category only.
