Burning River Endurance Runs

The Burning River Endurance Runs and Relay takes place in Northeast Ohio and marks its 20th anniversary in 2026. The course travels through several scenic areas including the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Summit Metro Parks. Participants can choose from several individual trail distances or join a relay team.

Available distances include:

  • 100 Miles solo trail race.
  • 50 Miles solo trail race.
  • Back Half 50 Mile solo trail race.
  • Marathon (26.2 miles) solo trail race.
  • 100 Mile 8 Person Relay team event.

The event has specific time limits for each category. Solo 100 Mile runners have 32 hours to finish and receive a belt buckle. Those in the 50 Mile category have 15 hours, while Back Half 50 Mile participants have 18 hours to complete their race. Marathon runners have a 14-hour limit. Finishers of the 50 mile and marathon distances receive a medal.

Specific rules apply to the relay and pacer options. The 100 Mile 8 Person Relay teams have 27 hours to complete the course. For the relay, female participants must run at least 25% of the segments to qualify for Co-Ed awards, and all members must be at least 40 years old for Masters award eligibility. Individual 100 Mile runners may use a pacer starting at mile 50, though runners aged 60 and over are permitted to have a pacer for the entire duration of the race. A community run and walk at Munroe Falls Metro Park on June 13, 2026, featuring an in-person 5K, a 1.55 mile fun walk and a virtual 5K with shirts, medals and age-group awards.

A 5K cross country run/walk at Caskeys Campground on June 13, 2026, raising funds for Type 1 Diabetes awareness. The day includes a free 400 m kids run and a family fun program with food trucks and lake activities.

Trail races of 5k, 5 mile and 10 mile around Kendall Lake in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Part of the Dirty Trail Series, the event supports the Humane Society of Summit County and features an on-site adoption vehicle.

An evening trail event on June 20, 2026, at Lagoon Picnic Area with a repeatable 5 km loop up to 20 km, chip timing, finisher medals, live bluegrass music, and a beer garden in the Cleveland Metroparks.
