The 20th Annual Burning River Endurance Runs & Relay takes place July 25 to 26, 2026 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The event offers multiple solo distances and an eight person relay, and the route travels through Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Summit Metro Parks.
Distances and course formats:
- 100 Mile - Out and back from Cuyahoga Falls to Silver Springs Park and back
- 50 Mile - Point to point from Cuyahoga Falls to Silver Springs Park
- Back Half 50 Mile - Point to point from Silver Springs Park to Cuyahoga Falls
- Marathon - Point to point from Oak Hill to Silver Springs Park
- 100 Mile eight person relay - Out and back, same course as the 100 Mile
Elevation gain is listed as approximately 8,000 feet for the 100 mile, 4,000 feet for the 50 mile, and 2,000 feet for the marathon. The 100 mile race is part of the Midwest Grand Slam of Ultrarunning and serves as a Western States qualifier.
Lodging options include a race room block at the Sheraton Suites Akron Cuyahoga Falls located steps from the start and finish area; suites feature separate sleeping and living quarters and multiple beds. All participants receive a race sticker and a 2026 poster, plus a choice of race tee, insulated water bottle, or a premium Patagonia long sleeve shirt.
Donations benefit the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Summit Metro Parks Foundation, and Boston Township. Fundraising can waive registration fees if minimum goals are met; stated minimums are $750 for 100 mile, $500 for 50 mile, $300 for marathon, and $300 per person for the relay.
