Event Overview

Flusslauf is a trail-based event held in the Bedford Reservation in Walton Hills, Ohio. Participants navigate a course featuring trees, roots, and a river crossing approximately 20 inches deep. The event takes place at the Hemlock Creek Picnic Area and combines athletic activity with a German-themed celebration.

The following distances and categories are available:

• 12K Run/Hike - A trail route covering approximately 7 miles (11 kilometers).
• 1 Mile Run/Hike - A shorter distance for running or walking.
• 1 Mile Ruck - A weighted walking event.
• Fest Entry - A ticket for those attending the celebration without participating in the races.

Course and Atmosphere

The route includes two passages through a river that reaches roughly knee height, ensuring participants get wet during the activity. The event is chip-timed, and participants in the 7-mile route traverse the natural terrain of the reservation. After completing their distances, participants can access a Biergarten featuring live music from a German band.

Participant Details

Registered athletes receive several perks, including finisher medals and a memento Bierglas (beer glass). Awards are provided for overall winners and specific age group categories. The event also offers post-race refreshments. A portion of the proceeds from the gathering supports Bike Cleveland, an organization that promotes sustainable transportation and movement.
